  • Can your products be used legally on Canadian waterways?

Yes, Defyen products can be used on Canadian waters. Each board has a Notice of Compliance and a serial number supplied by TRANSPORT CANADA. However, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with municipal regulations and water risks before using our products.

  • What does the name Defyen mean?

Defyen is a neologism derived from the verb DEFYING. We were looking for a name that would fit in with our products, which can be used on the water or above the water. DEFYEN was the perfect choice… Defying air and water!

  • Is it an easy sport to learn?

There are two different learning curves between eSurf and eFoil.

In general, people who try eSurf for the first time manage to stand up in less than 15 minutes. With eFoil, the learning curve is longer. Some people manage to stand up and keep their balance in less than an hour. However, the majority will need a few hours’ practice before they are more stable on the eFoil.

Like all sports, the key to success is practice!

  • I'm 64, is this sport right for me?

It’s never too late to start power surfing. So far, we’ve had a lot of people of all ages try out our products.

  • At what age can my child start surfing and electric foiling?

There is no minimum age for eSurfing and eFoil. However, if the user is under 12, adult supervision is mandatory.
You can also use the joystick buttons to limit motor power to a total of 20 intensity levels.

  • Is it possible to lock the speed?

Yes, it is possible to limit the board’s maximum speed. There are a total of 20 intensity levels to control maximum speed. The option of lowering the intensity is interesting when you’re just starting out in this new sport and want to push the throttle to the maximum without necessarily going to maximum speed. The controller’s intuitive interface makes it easy to increase or limit your speed, so you can learn at your own pace.

  • How easy is it to convert my board from eSurf to eFoil?

It’s very easy and will only take you a few minutes to interchange the propulsion systems in Defyen boards.

1- For your safety, we suggest you disconnect the data connector* (blue) from the battery.
2- Disconnect the three phase connectors* inside the board.
3- Turn the pivoting latches at the rear of the board and remove the propulsion module.
4- Once the propulsion module has been removed, simply repeat these operations in reverse to reinstall the other propulsion system.

  • Can I use my electric board in salt water?

Defyen boards can be used in both fresh and salt water, but we strongly recommend rinsing all components with fresh water after use in salt water.

  • Where are Defyen boards manufactured?

All Defyen products are designed and manufactured in Quebec, directly at our Shawinigan plant. We are proud to contribute to the development of our regions.

Transport

Travel from one body of water to another without breaking out the heavy artillery. There's no need for a trailer, a big truck or even a boat ramp. The Defyen board and accessories are easy to transport. Equipped with a carry bag with multiple storage compartments and removable wheels, it's easy to move around with your Defyen equipment while protecting it.

Storage

We recommend storing batteries in a dry place at a temperature between 10°C and 25°C. Also, if you're not using your battery for several weeks, make sure it's not completely discharged before storing it. To prevent theft, we suggest that you store Defyen products indoors when not in use.
